Making your own pizza dough and pizza is very satisfying.
First you start of with homemade pizza dough which is quite easy to make and is a lot healthier than buying pizza bases from your supermarket.
It does not take long to make, this is my favourite pizza dough recipe and use it all the time.
If you like a crispy base then check the below recipe out.

Total time 1 hour 10 minutes:
10 minutes to knead
1 hour to rise
This is what you need to make the dough
Makes 2 dough balls
250g of strong bread flour
1 x 7g of dried yeast
160 ml of warm water
1 tsp of salt
2 tbsp of olive oil
1 tbsp of caster sugar
Mix the yeast, sugar and warm water into a bowl and let it sit for a few minutes
Meanwhile Sift the flour into a large bowl, add the salt and mix together, then make a well in the middle.
Pour in the yeast mixture and then the oil.
Using a spoon, mix the flour from the edges with the contents in the bowl until a dough begins to form. Once it looks like a dough is forming start using your hands to mix.
Once combined place the dough onto a floured work surface (add more flour if necessary) and knead for around 5-10 minutes or until it’s well combined.
Place the dough back into a floured bowl and in a warm place for about 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size.
Once the dough has risen, place it onto a floured work surface and knead it for a few minutes to punch out the excess air.
Split the dough into two balls and wrap in cling film and place it in the fridge if not using it immediately.
The Pizza making
Pizza ingredients (make one pizza)
2 tbsp tomata passata
1 Mozzarella ball
Freshly ground pepper
(You can add your desired toppings)
Put a large grill proof frying pan (approx. 26cm) on a low to medium heat, ensure the pan is covered with olive oil.
Preheat the grill for a later stage.
Take a dough ball and roll it out on a floured work surface with a floured rolling pin to the size of your pan.
Take the pizza base and place it in the fry pan and gently press it down.
Cook over the heat for around 5-8 minutes until the base starts to crisp and the dough starts to cook through and bubble up.
While the pizza base is cooking spread 2 tablespoons of passata over the base (add in your desired toppings) and tear your mozzarella balls into pieces and dot them around the base.
Season with pepper.
Remove the pan from the heat once your base is cooked.
Drizzle the pizza with olive oil and place the pizza in the preheated grill.
Cook for about 4 minutes or until the topping is golden and bubbling and the dough around the edges is nice and crisp and slightly brown.
Serve warm, add a little olive oil and cut into slices.
